Better Regulation Executive (BRE)
The Better Regulation Executive (BRE) is responsible for taking forward the government's better regulation agenda and the work previously carried out by the Regulatory Impact Unit.
The Executive has overall responsibility for the government's commitments to regulate only where necessary, to set targets for reducing the costs of administering regulations, and to rationalise the inspection and enforcement arrangements for the business and public sectors.
Its work covers public, private and European issues, and how inspection and enforcement arrangements are carried out in practice.
