Digital Divide

The Digital Divide is the split between those who are able to make effective use of information technology, such as the Internet, and those who cannot.
There are several factors that can have an impact on the divide, including gender, literacy, socio-economic status, employment, geographical location, ethnicity and disability. There are also groups of people that are excluded from mainstream society, such as prisoners and refugees.
