Skills for Families

Skills for Families was an initiative that worked across England to help meet the need for effective family programmes in literacy, language and numeracy skills.

The initiative worked with partnerships that were created between Local Education Authorities and local Learning and Skills Councils, and providers.

It focused on extending and piloting local infrastructures, developing and testing a range of delivery models, testing approaches to teacher training and capacity building, and disseminating effective practice.

Skills for Families was set up by the Skills for Life Strategy Unit and the Learning and Skills Council and ran from March 2003 to July 2005.
