LSC

Data

From April 2008, the Data Service has taken over many of the responsibilities for data collection and dissemination previously owned by the LSC. During the period of transition to a fully operational Data Service we will continue to use existing services and communication channels so as to minimise disruption.

This section is maintained by the Analysis and Management Information team based at the LSC national office. To see a list of recent additions to this part of the LSC website take a look at the Updates section. There are brief descriptions of each of the sections in the Data site below, with links to some of the most popular areas.

Data Collection

The Data Service is responsible for collecting information about learners through the Individualised Learner Record (ILR). This section contains details of the specification, forms and guidance of the ILR for different years.  It also contains details of the collection timetables for all funding streams and can be found as annex A to the ILR Specification and can be found on the ILR page for a particular year. The Data Service will continue to use the on-line data collections system previously managed by the LSC.  These can be reached from the LSC Provider Extranet. The Provider Extranet also is home to the Learning Aim Database (LAD).

Data Dictionary

This section contains information on the datasets, methodologies and definitions used when analysing the data collected.

Provider Software

This section contains software downloads, documentation and support material for LSC-created software.

Statistics

This section contains reports, analyses and statistics based on the data held by the Data Service.
