LSC

Learning and    Skills Council

Welcome to the LSC North East website.

The LSC exists to make England better skilled and more competitive.

We have a single goal:
to improve the skills of England's young people and adults to make sure we have a workforce that is of world-class standards.

We are responsible for planning and funding high-quality vocational education and training for everyone. Our vision is that by 2010, young people and adults in England have the knowledge and skills matching the best in the world and are part of a fiercely competitive workforce.

Here in the North East we have a tradition of developing innovative, hard working and determined people. Their commitment to learning has made the North East a better place to live, work and visit in recent years. The region will only continue to flourish and grow as learners continue in their desire to succeed in learning.

National Employer Skills Survey 2007

Regional Strategic Analysis 2008

The Regional Strategic Analysis forms a key part of the Learning and Skills Council’s annual business cycle. It underpins our Regional Commissioning Plan, assessing what we have achieved so far and identifying where we need to do more. This year's strategic analysis provides the evidence to inform decisions about our strategic priorities, and about the learning provision we need to commission from our providers, in 2009/10.
