Celebration of Learning and Skills Awards 2007

Flying the flag for employers and individuals who are raising the standard of learning and skills development in the North East.

The Celebration of Learning and Skills 2007 was one of the most successful and prestigious award ceremonies ever held in the North East. More than 1,000 guests enjoyed a spectacular "Oscar" style ceremony at the iconic Sage Gateshead.

The region’s business leaders joined key employers, politicians, journalists, representatives from the education sector and the families and friends of the nominees for a fantastic evening of entertainment and recognition of achievement.

The Award Categories

Recognised companies that make a significant contribution to the continuous learning and skills development of their employees.

Working in the Community
Recognised companies and individuals that have formed working partnerships to undertake projects within the wider community.

Trade Union Life Long Learning
Recognised trade union organisations, trade union/workplace projects and employers whose projects had benefited employees, employers and unions.

Arts and Media
Recognised exceptional learning achievements in the Arts and Media sector.

Business, Enterprise and IT
Recognised people and companies who have made a significant impact in the world of business, entrepreneurship and technology.

Construction, Manufacturing and Engineering
Recognised exceptional learning achievements by individuals and organisations in these sectors.

Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
Recognised learning and skills development excellence in the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism sectors.

Sports and Recreation
Recognised learning excellece in the Sports and Recreation sector.

Outstanding Achievement
The winner of this award was chosen by a public vote.

Lifetime Achiever
This was an additional special award announced on the evening.
