Payment guaranteed for student funding help - September 2008

The Learning and Skills Council has confirmed that all eligible students who apply for the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) and who may have experienced delays with the processing of their application form will get all the payments for which they are eligible. All payments will be backdated and no-one will miss out.

National Skills Academy for Retail - July 2008

Skills Minister, David Lammy, announced this week the expansion of the National Skills Academy network with the approval of the tenth skills academy. The National Skills Academy for Retail is joining a national network of employer-led centres of excellence. The plan includes creating a network of 70 highly-professional retail Skills Shops in high streets and shopping centres, run individually by partnerships of local stakeholders including developers, training providers, other agencies including job centres and importantly, retailers themselves.
