LAD known issues

01 Dec 2003

For 2002/03 data returns, providers have previously been advised to use the LAD database as at the end of November 2003 to prepare the final claims for 2002/03.  The intention is that no changes to 2002/03 data which could affect funding would be made after that date, with the exception of adding missing learning aims.

However a problem was identified in the database file for 28 November. This problem affects learning aim 00270264, and was an error in the learning aim type field which affected all years and caused errors in the FE funding calculation in LIS and in the online data capture system. This error was corrected and because providers following the audit guidance for their 2002/03 claims may be using the LAD downloads dated 28 November for some time, the files dated 28 November were revised on 1 December.

The 28 November downloads now have an internal date of 1 December (this can be seen in the Lad_Current_Version table and at the footer of reports from LIS).  Providers who obtained the download on or before Monday 1 December may have download files dated 28 November 2003. If so, they are advised to download the file again to correct the error for learning aim 00270264.

When selecting the option to download CSV and PSV files, some versions of Internet Explorer ask the user twice if they wish to save or open the file from its current location. This is a known Microsoft bug. For Internet Explorer versions 5.5 and 6.0, service packs are available to alleviate this issue.
