Adult Community Learning (ACL) Business Definition 2008/2009

DEFINITION
1. Adult Community Learning (ACL) is generally undertaken after the age of compulsory education and outside mainstream Further Education (FE), Work Based Learning (WBL) and Higher Education (HE). From 2008 - 2009, Adult Community Learning falls under the scope of Personal and Community Development Learning (PCDL) and is funded by the Adult Safeguarded Learning (ASL) stream.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
2. The means of delivery is usually part-time and often in the evening or at the weekend. It is delivered in a variety of community locations including:
- Colleges
- Schools
- Community Centres
3. It may also be provided by FE or HE institutions, Local Authorities and Voluntary Organisations.
4. The outcome of the learning may be accredited, non-accredited or a full national Qualification.
