Technical Definitions 2008 / 2009

The Technical Definitions cover a broad range of definitions to do with analysis and processing of data.

  • Methodologies are higher level processes that often work on datasets and derived variables to produce data for reporting.
  • Data Definitions are more concerned with the processing of raw collected data to store as one or more derived variables.
  • Derived Variables are data made available for further processing within datasets.
  • Reporting Rules are definitions applied to data to produce Management Information.

In this version of the data dictionary the definitions for the derived variables are included within the more general data definitions.
