07/107: SLN GLH added to LAD for 2008/09 Learner Responsive provision
The “SLN glh 1” and “SLN glh 2” fields in the Learning Aim Database have now been populated with the 2008/09 standard learner number (SLN) values for the 16-18 and Adult Learner Responsive models.
Values have been added to the 2007/08 records in the All_Annual_Values table (shown as the "Shared Annual Values" tab on the LAD Website).
This is because changes to the LAD system are needed before it can hold 2008/09 information in 2008/09 records. Data changes were made to 11,816 aims.
The value is stated in glh which are the basis of SLN using the formula as described in The 16-18, Adult Learner- and Employer-responsive Funding Models document published in November 2007. In simple terms, the SLN values for individual learning aims are then calculated from the glh divided by 450. Further information is available in the LSC Funding Guidance 2008/09 – Funding Rates for 2008/09 document published in December 2007.
The “SLN glh 1” field is equivalent to the standard listed SLN value (similar to the 19+ National Rate 1 field) and the “SLN glh 2”
field is equivalent to the listed SLN value if the learning aim is studied in the evening (similar to the 19+ National Rate 2 field).
Note that “SLN glh 2” will only be populated for GCEs and GCSEs.
The full set of SLN values, including those for the Employer Responsive model, will be included in the 2008/09 version of the Learning Aims
Database.
