Funding Guidance for Further Education in 2007/08 - the document
This document, Funding Guidance for Further Education in 2007/08 (referred to here as 'the Guidance') sets out the Learning and Skills Council's approach to, and the authoritative guidance for, the funding of further education (FE) in 2007/08.
It is a technical reference document, and should be used as a handbook for FE funding. All colleges, providers and other organisations that receive funding from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for the provision of FE are required to comply with the Guidance. It provides the LSC's consolidated funding guidance for FE in 2007/08.

The additional monies for the learner support hardship fund identified as a response to the Race Equality Impact Assessment (£4.6 million in 2007/08 academic year) will be distributed to LSC regions on the basis of ESOL enrolments from the 2005/06 ILR data. LSC regions will allocate monies to individual institutions in order that they can support learners who would be unintentionally disadvantaged as a result of the changes to ESOL funding outlined in Raising Our Game: Our Annual Statement of Priorities (October 2006). Further guidance will appear as part of the Discretionary Learner Support Guidance due to be issued in April 2007.

This document is an update to the Funding Guidance for Further Education in 2007/08, published by the LSC in March 2007, and should be read in conjunction with the Guidance.
The purpose of this document is to:
- clarify some points of Guidance where necessary; and
- correct any typographical errors in the Guidance.
This document does not detail all the changes in funding policy in 2007/08. For this purpose read the Guidance and the associated documents identified in the executive summary thereof.
