Free Childcare for Training and Learning for Work
Welcome to the Free Childcare for Training and Learning for work website. These pages are designed to provide you with information that will help you to promote and administer Childcare for Parents in Training.
This is a new scheme that will support adults (aged 20 years and over) by paying for childcare and travel costs while they are undertaking learning leading to work. The aim of the scheme is to encourage the non-working parent within a family to participate in learning or training that will help lead them into sustainable employment. Therefore, contributing to the targets to reduce child poverty by improving the longer term job prospects of families.
This scheme has been developed following the 2007 budget announcement to provide free childcare for 50,000 workless parents accessing learning leading to work.
Free Childcare for Training and Learning for work will be trialed in 67 local authority areas from January 2009. For a full list of these authorities please click here.
