LSC

Organisation

The LSC was created by the Learning and Skills Act 2000 to ‘modernise and simplify’ the planning, funding and delivery of education and training for people over the age of 16 in England, other than those in universities. We began our work in April 2001.

We have a national office in Coventry, nine regional offices in England and a network of local partnership teams covering the whole country.

Our work at a regional and local level is overseen by a non-executive regional council. The council has representatives from employers, learning providers and community groups.

The East Midlands regional team is split into:

  • Regional Skills
  • Learning, Planning and Performance
  • Finance and Resourcing
  • Marketing and Communications

The East Midlands area is split into five area teams with partnership teams and economic development teams in each of the five areas, which are:

  • Derbyshire
  • Leicestershire
  • Lincolnshire & Rutland
  • Northamptonshire
  • Nottinghamshire
