Ashley Winter OBE is very familiar with the work of the LSC as he was Regional Chairman for LSC North East from 2006 to 2008 and before that Chairman of LSC Tyne and Wear from 2000 to 2006.

Ashley has more than 30 years business experience, including as Chairman and Managing Director of R H Patterson & Co Ltd for 20 years. As the main Ford Dealer for Newcastle, North Tyneside and West Northumberland, R H Patterson saw phenomenal growth from £25M and 150 employees in 1996 to £250M and 375 employees in 2007.

These remarkable achievements have been recognised in several ways, including being ten times national winner of ‘Ford of Europe’s Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Customer Satisfaction’, along with achievement and regular re-accreditation of the Investors in People standard.

Ashley was also Chairman and board member for the UK National Ford Dealer Council. He has held several non executive appointments including being Chairman of Business Link Tyneside, President of Tyne & Wear Chamber of Commerce, Director and Chairman of Tyneside Training and Enterprise Council, Vice Chairman of Tyneside Careers Management Board, Governor of Northumbria University and Director of Newcastle West End Partnership City Challenge.

With all this under his belt it comes as little surprise that Ashley was awarded the OBE for services to North East business in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2003.

Ashley, was educated in the North East and holds an honours degree in Economics and Accountancy from Newcastle University. He is married with three children and lives in Corbridge in Northumberland.

Ashley is passionate about raising standards, increasing qualification achievement levels and equal opportunities. Away from the world of work, his interests include sailing, gardening and cycling.
