National Commissioning Framework Consultation

The National Commissioning Framework (NCF) will set out the core systems for planning, commissioning, procuring and funding for the education and training for 16-19 year olds, young people up to age 25 where a learning difficulty assessment is in place, and young offenders in youth custody. A draft version of the full NCF has been published for consultation.

Johnny Ball reveals all

A visit to the region in July by maths guru Johnny Ball helped to spread the important message of how skills can help people to get on – both at home and at work. With many adults in the North East lacking the Skills for Life needed to progress in learning and work, Johnny’s visit to the region came as part of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North East ‘Skills for Life campaign’ – raising awareness of the importance in gaining good, basic numeracy skills, equivalent to those expected of an 11-year-old.

Chris Roberts moves to national post with LSC

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North East regional director - Chris Roberts - has been appointed an interim national post to see through the transition of the LSC to 3 new national services, superseding the LSC from April 2010 and manage the current day to day operations of the LSC nationally.
