Regional response to the economic downturn

The LSC is working very closely with the North West Development Agency, Business Link, and Jobcentre Plus to bring together our collective resources to offer support to companies and individuals affected by the economic situation. A plan has been developed which sets out the support which is available, and how the partners will work together to tackle the downturn. The full plan can be found here, and a summary can be found here.

The LSC has also produced a Practitioners Handbook which provides a summary of the support which the LSC can offer to employers and individuals, and that can be found here.

NW Learner Awards 2009

As part of the 2009 National Apprenticeship Awards the LSC in the North West will be hosting award ceremonies to celebrate those nominated in each of the five local LSC areas. These will not only recognise the young people’s achievement, but also that of their training providers and employers.

More information about the National Apprenticeship Awards, and details of how to enter, can be found here

Further Education is also celebrated at the North West events, with award categories for the top FE student (Vocational) and top FE student (Academic) in each area.

Further information, together with details of the 2008 winners, can be found here

We will shortly be announcing the venues and dates of the five North West award ceremonies, but if you have any questions or need any further information please email Joanne Miles or phone (0161) 261 0267
