About us
The LSC exists to make England better skilled and more competitive. We are responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality education and training for everyone. We have a single goal: to improve the skills of England’s young people and adults to world class standards. Our vision is that young people and adults in England have the knowledge and skills matching the best in the world and are part of a truly competitive workforce. We work nationally, regionally and locally to deliver this ambition on behalf of learners and employers.
The LSC operates through 47 local Councils, grouped into nine regions, with a National Office based in Coventry. We are led by a national Council, supported by statutory Committees advising on issues concerning young people, adults and equality and diversity. National and local Councils are employer-led.
The North West region consists of five LSC areas - Cheshire and Warrington, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Greater Merseyside and Lancashire. Each of these has an Area Director with a number of partnership teams working closely with our stakeholders to deliver our vision. The local non executive Council contributes to the strategic direction and supports the work of the local executive team.
