National Employer Skills Survey 2007

This report presents key findings from the Region on the National Employer Skills Survey 2007 (NESS07). The first section of the report provides a summary of the trends from 2003, 2005 and 2007 and national comparisons.

The Key Findings report follows the structure of the main national report and is separated into the following sections:

Section 2: Recruitment and recruitment problems

Section 3: Skill gaps

Section 4: Recruitment of young people

Section 5: Training activity and expenditure

Since NESS07 was completed there has been a sharp and synchronised global economic downturn. The challenges to the global economy will inevitably mean that the findings of this report may appear over optimistic. In recognition of this, the report provides updates on the recent development of learning and skills sector in terms of policy and performance.
