Helen was born in Aberystwyth, Mid Wales in 1958.
After attending Ardwyn Grammar School she studied and gained a BSc with Honours in Geography and Economics at the then named Lanchester Polytechnic in Coventry. On completion of her degree she moved to the South West to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Physical Education at St Lukes College, University of Exeter.
The next eight years were spent learning her trade at Exeter College of Further Education. In 1990 she moved to Bicton College of Agriculture where she progressed from Senior Lecturer to the Senior Management Team, completing her career at the college as manger for curriculum and quality.
In January 2000 she was invited to join Edexcel as a Regional Development Manager responsible for Further Education Colleges in the SW Peninsula. In 2002 she was internally promoted to Regional Manager for the Western Territories with the remit to support all schools, colleges and universities from Cumbria to Lands End. Following a re-organisation in 2004 Helen was again promoted within Edexcel to the position of National Manager UK Education.
Totally committed to the value qualifications and skills holds. Helen aspires to improve the further education and training sector to raise standards and to make learning provision more responsive to the needs of individuals and employers in the Greater Merseyside area.
