Greater Merseyside winners announced
The winners of the Greater Merseyside leg of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North West Learner Awards have been announced at a glittering awards ceremony at Anfield Stadium.
They were presented with a trophy and cheque for £250 by veteran footballer Alan Kennedy. The highly commended finalists received a cheque for £100 and a certificate.

Guest of honour Alan Kennedy enthralled the assembled finalists with tales of his award-winning football career and European Cup winning experiences, but said the night was all about the apprentices. “This isn’t about me playing football,” he told them. “It’s all about you and what you’ve achieved. This is the start of something good for you, huge congratulations to everyone here tonight. I’ve been honoured to speak in front of such an inspirational crowd of people.”
Helen France, Area Director with LSC Greater Merseyside, also congratulated the finalists and added: “Tonight, the pleasure has been all ours. The stories we’ve heard have been so humbling, and I live in awe of all the nominated learners. Your success doesn’t stop here though – keep on learning. You are our future.”
