John Chudley started his job as Area Director for the LSC in Devon and Cornwall on 1st September 2006 and has also recently been appointed as Area Director for the West of England.
John began his working career as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice and then progressed on to higher education for further qualifications in his chosen field of Marine Engineering. He has both experience of and a strong belief in the benefits and opportunities vocational education brings to young people.
John is well placed to take a strategic overview of the needs of learners and employers in the area. He has been effecting education change for the past 16 years, working with employers to produce work based learning programmes, Continuing Professional Development courses and courses in partnership with Further Education Colleges.
With extensive experience in the Marine Technology and Engineering industry, John was Head of Department of Mechanical and Marine Engineering at the University of Plymouth and most recently their Director of Research and Innovation.
