South West Skills Awards 2010

This year the prestigious awards will be held on 2 June 2010 at Sandy Park, Exeter.

The awards, run jointly by the Learning and Skills Council and the National Apprenticeship Service, recognise and celebrate the achievements of apprentices, learners and employers who have excelled in the region.

There are two different application routes depending on the type of award:

1. Applications and guidance for the skills categories below are available to download from the LSC website .

  • Achieving Skills for Life in the South West
  • Inspiring Others to Learn in the South West
  • Learning Against the Odds
  • South West Learner of the Year
  • Train to Gain Employer of the Year (small, medium large) sponsored by Train to Gain
  • Skills Pledge Employer of the Year
  • Success in Leadership and Management
  • Third Sector Employer of the Year - sponsored by ESF

Please note that the deadline for entries for the skills categories is
31 March 2010.

2. Applications for the Apprenticeship Awards are now available online at www.apprenticeships.org.uk/Awards.aspx.
Please note that the deadline for entries is 26 February 2010.

The categories for the Apprenticeship awards are:

  • Young apprentice of the Year
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Advanced Apprentice of the Year
  • Micro Employer of the year – 1-9 employees
  • Small Employer of the Year – 10-49 employees
  • Medium Employer of the Year – 50–249 employees
  • Large Employer of the Year- 250-4999 employees
  • Macro Employer of the Year - 5000+ employees

All South West winners for the Apprenticeship awards will be automatically put forward for the National Apprenticeship Awards in London in July 2010.

Again, please be aware of the two different application processes and deadline dates!
