Skills Development for Non-employed Adults Projects

ESF logo The following projects have been funded under the Skills Development for Non-employed Adults programme.


 

Provider:  City of Bristol College
Project:    Recruit and Train
Area covered:  West of England

To provide local people from deprived wards in the West of England with new skills, knowledge, motivation, confidence and ongoing mentoring to support their needs to find work and to remain in long term employment.  Key sites are Cabot circus, Southgate centre, Weston Parklands and Weston Park.


Provider:  Cornwall College
Project:    Higher Education Routeways
Area covered:  Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

The programme is a partnership between Cornwall College, Truro and Penwith College and Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change. An HE Community Development Worker appointed through the programme will work within deprived / disadvantaged communities to encourage unemployed individuals onto higher skills pathways / employment routeways. Practical and financial support will be embedded around Level 4 learning to address barriers and support progression onto further training and employment.

Project:    EQUATOR
Area covered:  Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

The aim of this project is to raise aspiration and participation levels of people who, because of their minority status, face multiple barriers to accessing education and employment opportunities.  The project will provide three flexible funds:
Learner Support Fund which will deliver financial assistance to individuals within the target groups to assist in overcoming barriers faced in accessing learning opportunities and to provide support packages which follow individual routeways and employment
Training Fund to support diversity training to develop capacity for delivery of effective Equaliy and Diversity based services
Delegated Fund which will support positive action projects, new activities and further developing pilots which cannot be supported through mainstream.

Enhanced Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) will be delivered, extending the number of hours of IAG available to learners below level 2, supporting the provision of free IAG to target group individuals above level 2, supporting the delivery of specialist IAG training for IAG staff (capacity building) and supporting achievement of Matrix Accreditation for 15 Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs).


Provider:  Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C)
Project:    Vocational Routeways
Area covered:  Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

Vocational Routeways will aim to create sustainable economies and communities by prioritising local jobs for local people.  It will link the employment needs of local employers with unemployed people within disadvantaged communities.  It aims to deliver tailored vocational training and support packages that will equip participants to enter employment.


Provider:  East Dorset District Council (EDDC)
Project:    Care Ambassadors
Area covered:  Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole

The aim of this project is to increase recruitment into the care sector by selecting and training Ambassadors to promote the sector at events held across Dorset which will be attended by individuals who are out of work.  Ambassadors currently employed within the care sector will attend accredited training focused on communication and presentation skills.  They will then run promotional events attended by unemployed people to promote awareness and opportunities within the care sector.


Provider:  Enham
Project:    Journey to Work
Area covered:  Somerset and Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole

This project is for people aged 25 years and under who are unemployed and have a learning, mental or physical disability.  Enham will provide help to enable these participants to gain and sustain employment.  The programme will include training and personal support, and participation in the programe is not defined in terms of duration.  The programme delivered will offer structured training and where appropriate, accredited qualifications.

Project:    Gloucester Works
Area covered:  Gloucester city

Targeting priority groups that suffer disproportionately from worklessness and low skills to offer seamless support pre to post employment.  Delivering a high level of sustainable employment outcomes.  Each participant will receive an individual employment and skills assessment, leading to an individual employment and skills action plan, bespoke training and support.  High quality provision, selected and co-ordinated by GDA, will ensure maximum impact on key neighbourhoods and effective partnerships between sectors.


Provider:  Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Ltd
Project:    Partnership Works
Area covered:  Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

The aim of this activity is to enhance Cornwall Works and Skills for Jobs opportunities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  It will provide employability skills and pathways to employability for 1,494 workless people including, where appropriate, additional training to prepare adults to be job ready, to secure sustainable employment and to continue to upskill and gain qualifications.


Provider:  New College Swindon
Project:    EARL
Area covered:  Wiltshire and Swindon

The EARL project provides a tailored programme of support, comprising modules of learning leading to full accredited level 2 qualifications.  The programme includes courses in vocational skills, employability skills (eg CV writing, interview techniques), supported by Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and access to work experience.  Learning Ambassadors will form an integral part in encouraging, recruiting and supporting individuals in deprived wards, areas of high worklessness, and army dependents into the programme.

Project:    ucan if ican
Area covered:  Somerset

A project to get you going where you want to go.  Working with people who are economically inactive, the ucan if ican project will work with voluntary and public sector agencies, employers and positive role models through the Somerset Skills and Learning IAG team of outreach advisers to ENTHUSE, ENCOURAGE and ENGAGE people to aspire to and achieve sustainable employment.

Project:    Skills for Jobs
Area covered:  Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole

This project is open to unemployed jobseekers aged 19 years and above who do not have a Level 2 qualification. Training will be delivered as an integral part of the programme, utilising Routeway frameworks. Participants will receive IAG and career coaching and ongoing mentoring support. Pre-employment training will be given in various sector areas. Training towards achievement of industry relevant non-accredited certificates, accredited qualifications and NVQ units are also available.

Project:    Skills for Jobs Devon
Area covered:  Devon

Working Links will support learners from all areas across Devon to access a focused, relevant skills programme to suit their specific needs.  This will provide them with the basis to obtain sustainable employment from within the growth sectors in the region.  Our unique approach of partnering with the FE Colleges will provide an integrated approach to Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and learning, ensuring that maximum positive impact is achieved across the communities – to both employers and individuals alike.
