Skills Analysis

Realising the Value of the Older Worker

Skills Analysis is part of an EU programme called EQUAL - a European Social Fund Initiative which tests and promotes new means of combating all forms of discrimination and inequality in the labour market.

The LSC exists to make England better skilled and more competitive.  To do this we need to harness the potential of all individuals and help them to gain and retain sustainable employment.  A key LSC target is to reduce the number of adults in the workforce who lack qualifications.  Skills Analysis makes an important contribution to this process and also complements our own use of ESF funding to fill gaps in provision.  The LSC has therefore been a committed partner in the project since 2005 and is actively helping to support its success.

Latest: Skills Analysis gets extension until December 2007....

Skills Analysis toolkitAs a result of its successful work in helping to raise awareness of the problems faced by older workers in the South West region, Skills Analysis has received confirmation from EQUAL that the programme has been extended until 31 December 2007.  This will allow the project team to extend its 'hidden competence' toolkit trialling activities with companies within the region as well as develop further its other programme activities including English for Speakers of Other Languages, flexible e-learning, multi-lingual management terms database and a self-assessment toolkit aimed especially at owner managers.

The Skills Analysis website has been updated to provide more detailed information on the project.  The new site is far more visual than previously and offers separate information areas on ESOL, EDI and innovative learning.  The new website is an excellent point of reference for interested beneficiaries as well as organisations interested in providing further funding for the programme.
