Proposed Merger of Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College

After considering the future direction for the colleges, the Corporations of Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College decided to consider the possibility of a merger. The Learning and Skills Council for West Midlands received an Initial Outline Proposal for merger and in June 2008 it was agreed that we should proceed to the next stage of the process which is the public consultation.

After the consultation period, the colleges will work together to produce a full merger proposal that will be presented to the Learning and Skills Council for West Midlands in September 2008. The Learning and Skills Council will then decide whether to forward the proposal to the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills for his consideration. The proposed implementation date for the merger is 1 December 2008.
