Engage Match Funding Work
BAES is one of the largest providers of Adult Education in Europe. It is developing significant changes to its planning and delivery in response to a comprehensive ACL Review in the sub-region in 2003. Local Area Planning Groups, (LAPGs), have been strengthened by new posts, Community Learning Development Managers, whose remit includes proactively engaging with other providers to ensure complementarity, not competition, facilitating progression within the learning community, utilising new mapping data to focus provision in areas of low participation, and developing a local offer relevant to the demographic and employment needs of the area. Key, senior staff work to enhance the impact of other Engage activity at operational level, e.g. Voice of the Learner activity, developing local learners' fora and enabling confidential feedback to the project for all ACL enrolments. They play an active role in the partnership at all levels, support the delivery of a range of project activity at local level, and chair the trans-national Skills and Curriculum activity.
SLLP is the LAPG for Solihull and fulfils the lifelong learning remit of the Solihull Partnership. The coordinator ensures the integration of Engage objectives into the delivery of the Solihull Adult and Community Learning (ACL) Operational Plan. The Partnership aims to increase the number of adults in learning through flexible and responsive provision and address weaknesses in current provision. It coordinates the promotion and celebration of learning in the borough, facilitates networking and maximises the use of research and data to support effective planning and widening participation.
