The Government in their Comprehensive Spending Review set out their strategic priorities for the three years from 2008 to 2011. This presents us with a great opportunity to invigorate our strategy and focus investment to meet the challenges outlined in the Leitch Report to respond to the Government’s strategic priorities. The LSC has a vital role to play in delivering the wider goals of government to reduce child poverty, promote social mobility, improve innovation and business productivity, and support higher levels of sustainable employment.;

The Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Analysis represents a detailed overview of the key data, evidence and information that will inform the development of the Regional Plan for 2007/08. It is a comprehensive analysis of demand for skills covering the current needs and requirements of individuals and employers and also the future skills requirements to meet the economic challenges ahead for the region. It analyses how the provision supply is currently meeting the demand and more importantly identifies what needs to change, improve and continue to grow. The document also makes reference to the key strategies for the region which have been developed or are under development that will have a major impact on the educational and training provision in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
