Yorkshire cricketers score first sports Apprenticeship

Yorkshire cricket champions James Finch, James Lee, Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Rochelle Petty are set to be the first young sportspeople awarded the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE), a new qualification designed to provide key skills and qualifications to young cricketers aged 16-19.

LSC unveils new campaign to improve skills

The Skills Campaign focuses on the theme: ‘Our future. It’s in our hands’and has been created to inspire people and business to improve their skill levels. This will ultimately support the target set by Lord Leitch in his review of skills for the UK to become a world leader in all levels of skills by 2020. The campaign will be one of the biggest ever undertaken by the Government.

A new campaign - Our future. It’s in our hands - urging people to take control of their future by investing in skills, will be launched today by Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), John Denham and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) Chairman, Chris Banks at an event attended by over 150 further education and skills stakeholders at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in London.

Green Eyed Nation - Skills are envied more than beauty

Forget beauty or money –the real thing we envy in others is their skills, according to a new ICM poll, commissioned by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), out today. More than a third of people in the poll confessed to envying the skills and abilities of others, whereas only 4% felt jealous of other people’s beauty.
